22 Teachers and Volunteers from the United States Share Good Practices

Kampus Pemimpin Merdeka (MOE) collaborate with Peace Corps (United States Government Independent Agency which sent volunteers to work in various countries), roll out Independent Curriculum Festival (FKM) Of Hotel Yello Surabaya on Monday (26/08).

This activity is celebration of learning for 22 English teacher and Peace Corps volunteer who for the past two months has received assistance from KPM. Online, Teacher from East Java, West Java, and East Nusa Tenggara received training in the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum.

"FKM is aimed at celebrating the learning process of participants, celebrate it by sharing good practices teaching them. So what they learned with us and they have tried to apply can also be an inspiration for other teachers out there," bright Rizqy Rahmat Hani, chief of the MoE.

Although held luring in Surabaya, FKM participants come from various regions. The reason, KPM and Peace Corps provide live streaming whose participants are stable in numbers 250.

"Thank you for Peace Corps who want to be involved in improving the quality of Indonesian education. I am very happy to hear the good practice of teachers and volunteers today. Learning English which is not only fun but also meaningful,said Rizqy

Ananda Roman, Program Manager Peace Corps Indonesia explain, This project wants to support the current priority of the Indonesian government's education. Therefore, teachers are given assistance to implement it student center and P5, found in the Independent Curriculum.

"We hope this program can have an impact on teachers and students to remote areas," he said.

"Sometimes the teacher has difficulty translating the concepts in the Merdeka curriculum, what is practical contextual, which is suitable for the students, Therefore this program exists,he continued.

In total there are eleven good practices distributed, Some tell her experience teaching with games, instructional Media, to various technologies on the internet.

One of them is good practice from Sefti MTs Guru in Kediri with Volunteer Peace Corps with Sarah, who distributed card learning media called The Rising Cards.

The Rising Cards are cards that can help students check their own learning progress. Every meeting, Students get questions and who succeed in answering will get a star to be attached to the card.

Students who have ten stars can not answer anymore but rather give questions to other friends. This method is expected to cause feelings of wanting to help between students. (Yosi)
