Foundation Learning Teacher & SMBC Indonesia launched the program “Financially Smart Creative Teacher”

Foundation Learning Teacher (GBF) collaborating with SMBC Indonesia to launch a study scholarship program “Financially Smart Creative Teacher” (GKCF) on Monday (19/08) online. GKCF aims to improve two teacher competencies, namely competency in making teaching media and financial literacy competency.

Creative Teachers Create Teaching Media and are Financially Smart

It is hoped that this increase in competency can support teachers in facing the challenges they often encounter in the classroom and outside the classroom. In the classroom, Teachers often fall into the trap of creating teaching media that looks cool but turns out to have no impact on students.

Outside of class, many teachers are trapped in loans online (pine nuts) because of low income, less efficient financial management, as well as minimal knowledge about illegal financial services.

“I am also one of the teachers who had misconceptions about making teaching media. In the past, I often created cool teaching media that I thought was innovative. In fact, I make teaching media that students don't need, so it actually has no impact on student learning,” said Rizqy Rahmat Hani, chairman of the Independent Leaders Campus, GKCF program implementation unit.

Rizqy said, program participants will study for four months to be able to design meaningful teaching media, namely with concepts design thinking. Participants will also be accompanied on how to utilize artificial intelligence to help create teaching media.

"It is hoped that this teaching media will not only be useful for learning in the teacher's own class but also for other teachers. How to? This is what is called a teacher with a protean career. Teachers can create meaningful teaching media and then sell it to other teachers. Many teachers and other students were affected, the financial well-being of the teacher who created it also improved, said Rizqy.

9324 Teachers Register and Will Be Selected

Since registration opened on 30 Last July, 9324 teachers have registered for the GKCF program. Later, participants will be selected for their commitment. At level one, 1000 Participants have the right to receive training in creating teaching media and financial literacy. So 300 teachers are selected to continue receiving assistance in designing teaching media prototypes.

At the end of the program, there will be a celebration of learning with a festival format, where 175 Selected participants will share good practices regarding the teaching media they have successfully created. Through this session, It is hoped that the knowledge of making teaching media does not stop with GKCF participants but also teachers at large.

Game-Based Learning Improve Financial Literacy Like Pekalongan Teachers

Nunuk Riza Praise, chairman of the Indonesian Learning Teachers Community (KGBN) as well as a driving teacher in Pekalongan Regency who was present as one of the speakers at the launch of GKCF shared his experience designing exciting teaching media related to financial literacy.

He explained, This teaching media was created by understanding the culture of life of Indonesian people who work together regarding finances. For example, there are often donations to religious activities, lottery club, neighbor got married, which is often difficult to measure the amount of monthly expenditure.

“So my friends and I in the community designed a game that was quite complex but fun. The story is that there are two chicken families who have financial goals, then challenged to manage their income so that their goals can be achieved,” explained Nunuk.

“On the way to goalsthere will be challenges like the ones we face every day, for example, the car needs to be serviced. Then there is the challenge of other spending temptations which are not needs but desires,he continued.

From the reflections of teachers and students who have played this game, Nunuk believes that financial literacy competency can be achieved in many ways, including games like this. He hopes that the GKCF program will produce many creative and innovative teachers in creating teaching media that can also have an impact on students and themselves. (Yosi)
