Numerical literacy is strengthened from the root – 25 West Coast Teachers are ready to become a learning motor
West Coast, 18 March 2025. The low achievements of literacy and numeration are still homework in many elementary schools in Indonesia, Including in the West Coastal Regency, Lampung Province. Answer these needs, a lot 25 Teachers from West Coastal Regency participated in training as a master teacher in the creation program, to strengthen their role as a lighter of change in learning spaces. The creation program is a joint initiative funded by the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) and carried out by the Indonesian Education Partner Consortium, which consists of Save the Children, Foundation Learning Teacher, and supported by the Ministry of Elementary and Secondary Education, Ministry of Religious, and Bappenas. Spread literacy practices & Numeration through KKG This training is designed not only to improve individual competencies, but to strengthen the learning ecosystem between teachers. Those who are trained will become the master teacher learning master for their colleagues in the teacher's work group (KKG) In their respective districts. With a continuous professional development approach, The teachers not only accept the module, but also an innovative strategy to strengthen reading skills, write, and count effectively and inclusively. One of the main materials in this training is the 5M learning strategy, Humanize relationships, Understand the concept, Build sustainability, Choose challenges, Empower context. Humanizing relationships is a learning practice based on children's orientation based on positive relations that understand each other between teachers, students and parents. One concrete example of its application is the use of the results of the initial assessment in students in designing learning. Understanding the concept means that learning that guides students is not just mastering content but mastering a deep understanding of concepts that can be applied in various contexts. While building sustainability is learning that guides students to experience a directed and sustainable learning experience through feedback and share practices. Feedback and reflection are close practices with this. Next choose challenges, is a learning practice that guides students to master expertise through a tiered process with meaningful challenges. Finally, empowering the context of inviting teachers to practice learning that guides students to involve resources and opportunities in the community as learning resources as well as opportunities to contribute to changes. Oktavia Wuri Pratiwi, District Manager Creation from Teacher Learning Foundation revealed "We want teachers not only to be curriculum implementers, But learning leaders. With 5m, teachers can be more confident in facing class dynamics, included to increase literacy and numeracy. This strategy emphasizes the importance of equal interaction between teacher and student, and encourage contextual learning and arouse students' curiosity. " The impact expanded through this training mentoring is not the final goal, but the beginning of a series of mentoring and the spread of good practice. The hope, the competencies obtained do not stop at 25 participant, but reached hundreds of other teachers through sharing activities on KKG and their respective schools. The creation program carries the belief that changes in education are not born from mere instructions, but rather from collaboration between teachers who learn each other, strengthen, and grow together. “Thanks to all the teachers who have chosen to get involved.
